Chilkur Balaji Temple

The Balaji Temple is located at Chilkur Village in the Hyderabad district. It is 33 Kms away from Mehedipatnam.

The best way to reach chilkur Balaji temple is, if you have your own vehicle then it becomes easy. If you go by bus, then the best route is to reach Mehedipatnam. The frequency of buses to Mehedipatnam is high from almost all parts of the city. So your travel becomes easy if you reach Mehedipatnam.Public transport is easily available from Mehedipatnam to chilkur. Approximately 75,000 to 1,00,000 devotees visit in a week. Devotees throng to this place especially on holidays.

First time when I visited there, I was thrilled to see the arrangements here like avoiding hundi, dakshina etc. The nice concept is implemented in darshan of the lord Balaji, is that all people must stand in queue with discipline.

It is really good. I hope all temples in India need to be like chilkur temple.

sri balaji at chilkur is very powerful god. In this temple all are equal and everyone follows it systematically.

The History behind this temple goes like this.A devotee who used to visit Tirupati every year could not do so on one occasion due to ill-health. Lord Venkateshwara appeared in his dream and said, "I am right here in the jungle nearby. You don't have to worry." The devotee at once moved to the place indicated by the Lord in the dream and saw a molehill there, which he dug up. Accidentally, the axe struck Lord Balaji's idol covered by the mole- hill below the chin and on the chest, and surprisingly blood started flowing from the wounds, flooding the ground. The devotee could not believe his eyes when he saw this. Suddenly he could not believe his ears also when he heard a voice from the air, which said, Flood the mole- hill with cow's milk. When the devotee did so, a Swayambhu idol of Lord Balaji accompanied by Sridevi and Bhoodevi (a rare combination) was found, and this idol was installed with the due rites and a temple built for it.

This temple is also popularly known as Visa Temple because many devotees come here with the wish of going abroad.

It's customary to go around the temple (known as pradakshina) eleven times and pray to god for a specific wish. Once this wish comes true, the devotee has to go again and take 108 pradakshinas.

Chilkur Balaji temple is one of the most famous temples in Hyderabad

There is a Shiva temple in the complex.

Nearby Balaji temple Lotus temple is there.

So don’t fail to see Balaji and Lotus temple in Chilkur .May god fulfill all your thoughts.

Marudhamalai temple

we started to Marudhamalai temple from udumalpet. It is about 12 Kilometers from Coimbatore Railway Station.

As the name suggests, the temple is situated on a hillock and the deity is called Dhandayuthapani. The temple gets its name from the Marutha trees in the forests on the hill. The hills also have many medicinal herbs in their forests.

The story behind the temple is that a thirsty Sanyasi was walking through the forest and took some rest under a Marutha tree. To quench his thirst, he prayed to Lord Muruga. Muruga answered his prayers and sprang water from Marutha trees.

This temple was built about 800 years ago. Recently Kumbabishekam was performed.

We have to climb 700 odd steps to reach that top of the temple. Or we can take local buses from the base of the temple to the top. But that day heavy rush so we took car.

There are frequent buses from Coimbatore city to Maruthamalai.

Thirumoorthy Hills - Thirumoorthy Temple

I am very happy to write about my Coimbatore trip. Actually we went Coimbatore to attend, friend marriage but we want to spend at least two days in Coimbatore But two days is not enough to see places in Coimbatore. We planned to spend at least Saturday and Sunday to visit temple (luckily marriage is on Monday) .we went directly to our friend Gopal’s house (udumalpet). There we took rest and hired a car to Thirumoorthy temple.Next day we planned to go to Marudhamalai temple.

Thirumoorthy temple is situated 50 Kms from Pollachi and 20 kms from Udumalpet on the highway from Palani to Coimbatore. Thirumoorthy temple is situated at the foot of the hill adjacent to Thirumoorthy Dam. Importance of this temple is three Moorthy (syumbhu) Idols originate in same place.

It is also believed that a few years ago Athari Maharishi along with his wife Anushiya Devi lived here. To test Anushiya Devi about her devotion the Thiru moorthy’s (Brahma, Vishnu and Siva) came to her place. The couple offered them tribute. They told they would accept, Anushiya Devi should do offering in State of undress. She accepted their demand and with her deep devotion she changed Thiru Moorthi's into 3 years old babies and started feeding them. On seeing the devotion of Anushiya Devi, the Thiru Moorthi's blessed the couple and hence the place is known as Thiru Moorthi hills.

The temple is set on the foot of the Thirumoorthy Hills near the Dam, which has the same name

Stream flows by the side of the temple and there are some waterfalls nearby.

Thirumoorthy hill is the major cini shooting spot in the Coimbatore District where most of the Malayalam and Tamil movies are taken here due to the pleasant climate and the view of the nature.

There is also a swimming pool and a well laid out garden and boating facilities in the dam

First we had nice bath in waterfalls and we went to temple to worship thiru moorthy.

In that temple we could see Lord Muruga, Lord Ganapathy.

We had nice Darshan and spent that evening very happily. I asked that Purohit about the history of this temple. So with my little knowledge that I got from that purohit I wrote this.
